The national skills campaign newsletter

Launched at the same time as the skills campaign, this publication explains why skills are imperative. It looks at how Government partners and key stakeholders, employers and individuals are working together to change the way people think, feel and act about learning and training - so it is seen as being important and needed by everyone in England.

“Our future. It’s in our hands”

The LSC skills campaign, launched last week at BAFTA in London, is designed to encourage people to upgrade their skills through education and training. (For a full copy of the launch press release, click: http://www.lsc.gov.uk/news/latestnews/news-090707-2.htm)

TV, print and out-door poster adverts will aim to persuade people of their natural ability to succeed.

The new secretary of state for innovation, universities and skills, John Denham said: "The government has accepted the ambitious challenge to become a world leader in skills, and we are committed to achieving this.”

The skills campaign will run for at least the next three years. Although it is managed by the LSC, it involves partners and providers across the learning and FE sector. Due to the level of stakeholder support, the campaign carries no one ‘sponsor’ logo, hence the simple branding:

“Our future. It’s in our hands”

The first phase of TV will run until the end of August tapping into the traditional recruitment cycle for colleges. The employer strand of the campaign, Train to Gain, will launch on the 16th July.
